Hall of Fame

PURPOSE OF THE HALL OF FAME

The Grand Traverse Area Catholic Schools Hall of Fame was established in 2007. Its purpose is to recognize individuals who inspire others by being exemplary role models, particularly the following:

• Those whose faith, service, and/or leadership embody the ideals of Christian life

• Those who have made a lasting impact on our Catholic school community

• Those who inspire others to seek what is Good, Beautiful, and True in this life in the hopes of eternal life with God

Many people deserving of this recognition may be loathe to receive it. Humility is one of the things that makes them exemplary role models. However, as a school community, we wish to celebrate those who have left an indelible mark, who have changed us for the better, regardless of age, occupation, or worldly success. In their stories, our students can see potential for their own lives, and that is ample reason for this endeavor. 

NOMINATION GUIDELINES

Nominations Due June 15

To be considered, a candidate must have one primary nomination letter plus a minimum of three (3) supporting letters of recommendation. Ideally, these letters will reveal a breadth and depth of character, and a variety of reasons for the individual (or couple’s) recognition. Stellar examples having a singular focus can also be considered. Current GTACS employees, with a minimum of 25 years of employment at GTACS and/or over the age of 70 are eligible for nomination.

Here are some suggestions for inclusion in the nomination packet:

  • Volunteer activities
  • Memberships in civic organizations or service clubs
  • Parish involvement (volunteering, councils, ministries, pastor’s letter, etc.)
  • Educational background including alumni status, if applicable
  • Professional accomplishments
  • Awards and recognitions
  • Military service
  • Mission work
  • Stories of impact in others’ lives
  • Contributions to arts, athletics, or other extracurricular programs
