George and Clara (Kratochvil) McManus cared deeply about their Catholic faith and the beauty and goodness of family.  George and Clara both graduated from St. Francis High School in 1948 and joined in a sacramental marriage on August 16, 1949.  During their 70 years of marriage, George and Clara were blessed with 9 children, 23 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.  Clara passed away in January of 2020, while George passed away in June of 2024.

George and Clara have a substantial history of involvement with St. Francis parish, the Grand Traverse Area Catholic Schools (GTACS), local business and agricultural entities, and a variety of county- and state-level initiatives.  Their passion for the Church and the community resulted in George and Clara being inducted into the GTACS Hall of Fame with the inaugural class of 2007.

George and Clara were very proud that their 9 children (and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren) graduated from St. Francis High School.  It is very appropriate to have this particular scholarship fund in place to bless the upcoming generations of students.
