Safety

We take the safety and well-being of every student seriously. Over the past several years, we have made continuous and meaningful improvements to ensure our schools remain secure, prepared, and welcoming environments.

Our safety journey includes:

  • Proactive Planning: We’ve developed comprehensive Emergency Operations Plans for each campus, created in coordination with local emergency responders.
  • Expert Guidance: In 2023, GTACS commissioned a full security assessment from Secure Education Consultants. In 2024, we created a dedicated Director of Safety and Security position to oversee all safety efforts.
  • Collaborative Partnerships: We actively partner with local law enforcement, including the Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan State Police, to enhance on-campus presence and expertise.
  • Smart Technology Investments: From upgraded surveillance cameras and video intercom systems to planned access control improvements and visitor management kiosks, we are investing in modern, reliable security systems.
  • Training and Preparedness: Staff are trained in nationally recognized emergency response protocols. We follow Michigan State Police safety guidelines and regularly conduct state-mandated safety drills.
  • Future-Focused Improvements: We’re preparing to implement additional training and technologies to further protect our students and staff.
